When the MTA, the agency that runs New York City's transit system, finally put unlimited-ride metrocards on sale, I bought one about five hours after they became available—which is to say, at 5 in the morning, on my way into the subway.
That wasn't my usual hour for subway riding: I'd been hanging out with roadnotes, her then-husband Mark, and Lise (who is not on DW), at her apartment, and it eventually seemed like a good idea to get some real food, so we headed into Chinatown, to go to Wo Hop, a 24-hour Chinese restaurant.
"Finally" because I'd wanted one for years, not (as is often the case) because they missed a deadline.
This goes under "metropolitan" because "MTA" stands for "Metropolitan Transportation Authority," and anything about the Metropolitan Museum of Art would also be reaching.
