At the end of the day, I wasn't sure about going to the gym; when
cattitude called just before six to ask my plans, he pulled me out of wrestling with questions about sustainability, renewable resources, and fish farms. He said he thought it would do me good to exercise, I said "you always think that," and he admitted this, arguing that it usually is true, and when it's not I don't say "maybe" or "I'm not sure," I say something like "I'm coming home" or "my shoulder is bothering me." (Sometimes I go to the gym despite the last, and do lower-body exercises.) So I went.
Cardio, 11 minutes, top heart rate 151
Chest press, 65 pounds, 12; 50 pounds, 7
Leg press, 220 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 15 with each hand. On the first set, I had the machine set with the handles set lower than usual. I suspect this did me less good than usual (it didn't feel like it was doing anything for my balance, and I would guess less than usual for the pecs and triceps).
Calf raise, 80 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Wrist curl, 30-pound bar, 2 sets of 15
Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arches, 3 sets of 17
Tree, 5 sets of {2 on each leg}
Biceps curls, 10 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 20
Some stretches (lower back, groin, upper back). The straps on the device are still broken; I told one of the trainers about it, and rather than saying "we know, a new one is on order" he asked me whether it was both straps. I had initially assumed the gym staff had noticed the problem, which is why I hadn't said something sooner.
Cattitude was right, as he often is.
