Emilie told me this evening "You're going to be an aunt." I knew she was pregnant, though she'd asked me to keep it quiet for a bit; today she has an ultrasound photo, and is cheerfully telling everyone. Discussion of baby pictures, and my saying it's different looking at them if you care about the parent, led to Emilie agreeing with the idea and telling me I'm going to be an aunt. OK. Not what I was expecting, though we're friendly and I enjoy talking to her. (Given how much of my available social time I use at the gym, this is definitely a good thing.)
Other than that, it was a reasonable workout, with a bunch of Pilates machine stuff (my request).
Cardio, 15:15, top heart rate 142
Rolled out IT band, etc.
Hamstring bridge, 4 sets of 9 (and then stretches)
Ab work on the small ball, 3 sets of 10
An assortment of Pilates stuff, a bit more than the last time we did that (a few weeks ago), all for the legs (I think one also involved abdominals)
Lat pulldown standing on balance platform, 40 pounds, 3 sets of 12
A bunch of massage for the carpal tunnel: Emilie said that while she couldn't diagnose, now that we have a diagnosis there are things she can do to help. She offered to teach me a "nerve stretch," and I said next time: I'm still getting the stretch I got from the OT into the pattern of my days,
"Hug a tree," with platform in the easier position, 22.5 pounds, 2 sets of 12
One with my arms straight out in front of me, 22.5 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Triceps, 22.5 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Also, it transpired that the reason she wasn't there when I expected last week was that she was out of town; because I was out the week before she hadn't reminded me of her travel plans.
