This is the first time in all my years in the workforce that I have walked out of a performance review smiling.
My boss said a variety of good things about me, none of which were surprising, because both my bosses believe in telling people that we're doing well.
I have no idea if I'm getting a raise. I know my boss recommended me for the maximum, but that was officially reduced to 2% a couple of months ago, and today Marilyn told me "there are rumors of a hiring freeze," and Wendy (my other boss, who is head of the math and science teams) has been unable to get an answer on this. If I have a raise, it will be retroactive.
I walked in knowing it would be smooth, because (this is fairly standard) my boss sent me the review the day before, so I could read it ahead of time instead of having to sit in her office and do so. (If it hadn't been so positive, I would have been grateful on other levels for the advance notice.)
So, maybe some more money, and definitely egoboo.
