It's somehow interesting that the evidence of water is in the form of a mineral the equivalent of sandstone bound together with Epsom salt; that is, a rock which couldn't possibly survive on a surface where it ever rained.
There was water there in the past, but it's dry enough now that you can find the equivalent of rocks of rock-salt lying around.
