I walked with
cattitude as far as the edge of the park, then looped around to a slightly different path home. Fewer birds singing--they seem to have settled in to nests, and no longer be competing for space. Still lots of lilac, and one or more things I'm allergic to are in the air here (I'm less congested downtown than up here--but I'll take the green.)
The paulownia are all in bloom now: one looked oddly pink from below, against the blue sky, but a fallen flower was the usual pale purple. Morning glory vines are coming up through the mulch around one newly planted pine. They weren't there last year: I'm assuming the seeds were in either the soil with the tree or the mulch. (Oddly, the other pine a few feet away, planted at the same time, has none.) The relatively new curly leafed weeping willow has enough yellow leaves that I'm worried; I'm hoping it just needs rain. It's young, so its roots won't reach the river yet, and I'm not sure how deep the water table is just there.
Lots of swallows over the water; not much else besides gulls this morning.
My thighs are a little sore, as they often are after working out on the leg press, and my right heel is still tender, but everything else is fine, so I'm concluding I didn't overdo it yesterday, or do myself any harm by forgetting my stretching.
