My order of 50 N95 masks from Project N95 arrived today. These are actual N95s, not KN95s or KF94s, and the package has both detailed instructions and warnings that they are not to be used in atmospheres that contain less than 19.5% oxygen, or that are immediately dangerous to life or health. I haven't tried them yet, because I haven't left the house since I opened the carton.

If these fit, I'll be set for a while. If not, I may try something else, or order more of the Powecom KN95s I've been using.

Also, we are throwing away most of the cloth masks we'd bought at various points in 2020 and 2021; we're keeping the ones with the extra nose strap that reduces eyeglass fogging. This afternoon I was alternating between taking my glasses off to wipe away the condensation and reading signs before my glasses fogged again, and looking at street signs and walk/don't walk signals with my glasses off.

I keep wondering what I should do with my many cloth masks, and my many subpar disposable masks. I'd ordered 300 N95-esque-but-not-quite masks, which are not comfortable but are less hideously painful than the N95s we finally got at work, and people are still trying to convince me that my problem is just that I haven't found the right masks yet. All of them fog.

I am keeping the cloth masks with the extra nose strap. Even in a time when (insert gestures here to ward off evil omens) we don't need masks against covid, I would want to wear them when I'm going out in serious cold or airborne allergen season. They are much more comfortable than a scarf, and some of the patterns are pretty.

N95s are just a lot harder to deal with. The Airgami don't fog my glasses, and I can adjust them so they don't cut my face or bend my glasses out of shape, but I hate that those are now my standards for a great N95 mask.

I figure I'll need some for fighting fascists. They're better than a bandana. Some of mine are pretty, but none are really comfortable.

For what it's worth, I found a cloth mask to be really handy when I was sanding my new cedar bedframe. I didn't need anything particularly hardcore (like a N95) for that, but it kept me from inhaling the cedar dust. I'm going to keep some of my favorite cloth ones just in case.

Tiger and I stopped at the hardware store to buy a box of N95 respirator masks. I'll have to look up more info, because they say they are for drywall sanding. Tiger prefers them to cloth, and prefers the elastics behind his head to ear loops. Our medical offices here require either a disposable medical mask or an N95, rather than cloth. I'm more comfortable combining a cloth mask with a disposable mask over it. It has been an advantage to be able to customize my cloth masks to fit myself well.

The Weather has been horrible for fogging glasses. I've carried a package of tissues with me at all times thru this winter because every time I go out they will fog, often several times, plus when I go from outside to inside. Not fun climbing flights of stairs you can't see...
