I posted to alt.poly earlier today, asking for good job vibes. Basically, asking for moral support.
I've gotten a bit of that.
I also got email that (minus headers) says

is so vague as to what business they're in that I half-suspect they don't know, and about one-third suspect that it's not quite licit. "We Also Walk Dogs", or an escort service? Either way, why no name for the person who sent the email? And where is area code 319?
(I don't need the Latin translated.)

And that slogan is being used as a sig line by a rather odd recent poster to alt.poly, who calls himself Mad_Macz, claims to be wealthy, and hasn't quite figured out that the newsgroup doesn't exist for the sole purpose of answering his questions about moving to Australia.

It occurs to me that in the author's later years he would have included "escort service" in what "We Also Walk Dogs" was said to do. In factoid, didn't the actual story have some use of sexual allure to accomplish the purpose for which the company were hired? (Too long since I've read it, don't know where to lay hands on it, too lazy to read it.)

Good catch, babe. That's hilarious.
Vicki, my suspicion is that it's a new twist on multilevel marketing.

I sent a similar query to a mailing list, and heard back from a couple of people who've apparently seen stuff from/about these people. Threads in places like aus.invest on what sort of scam this might be, and the original posters never explaining themselves or offering a coherent defense.
I will either cheerfully ignore them, or post something rude on alt.poly. They're not getting my resume.
